Prakash Babu Thapa is Youth Leader, social activist, lyricist, and program host born in Nepal’s Gorkha District, Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality ward No-8 Bungkot. He grew up in the village and completed his schooling in Shaheed Smrity Secondary School, secured with First Division. He then studied Intermediate Level in Durbya Shah Multiple Campus in Gorkha majoring in Economics & Mathematics. At that time, he joined ‘Daraudi’ local newspaper as a press representative and published his poem and short novel. He has been interested in writing poems, novels and stories since childhood, but after completing his School Leaving Certificate (SLC), he has mostly focused on writing poems. For the first time In 2057 B.S, he participated in a district-level poem competition during the 188th Bhanu Jayanti program conducted by Gorkha Sahitya Samaj. He won the First Prize for the title “Ma Niruttar Hunechhu”. Many litterateurs who came from the capital city to participate in the program had suggested that he move to Kathmandu for a brighter future in literature. This is why he moved to Kathmandu together with them and started to work on building his career.

Later, he joined Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Exhibition Road for his bachelor’s degree and was also involved in the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP-Nepal) as a volunteer. He has participated in many volunteer works and developed his leadership skills. He went to New Delhi, India in 2001 to participate in the regional level leadership training, and to Japan in 2004 to learn international skills in leadership. After graduating from the training, he led the team as the team captain throughout the nation and abroad, especially in Assam, India. He performed remarkably and scored excellent marks in his captainship which led him to an opportunity to go to South Korea in 2005 for further training, as well as to the United States from 2006 to 2009 for 3 years of International Leadership Training. He graduated as a captain after gaining skills and experience. When he arrived in Nepal, he started his training course in Pokhara and has personally trained many hundreds of people until now. He then got an opportunity to go to Canada in 2011 for an advanced leadership course for 6 months. After that, he was appointed as a CARP President and led the youth movement guiding the youth of Nepal in nation-building. He has strengthened the capacity of youth through volunteer service.

He has served the organization in many leadership positions and has visited more than 200 schools and colleges by giving moral and character development education. He has travelled more than 30 countries across the world as well as received many awards in the course of his leadership, such as the “Best volunteer award 2003”, “Best leadership award 2004”, “True parents’ award 2012”, “Asia Pacific HJ Leadership Award 2022”, and many more. Furthermore, he also won the academician award in 2021 called the “Nepal Sociological Association Dissertation Award (NSA Award)” for his thesis entitled “Social Construction of Parkinson’s Disease”. As a lyricist, Prakash Babu Thapa is also known as “Prakashpunja”. He has recorded more than 40 songs for very popular singers like Aananda Karki, Sarmila Bardewa, Milan Newar, Indira Joshi, Sabina Karki, Sapan Kumar Rai, Raj Sagar, among others. He won the Music Khabar Music Award in 2021 as the ‘Best Lyricist of Modern song’ for the song “Euta Phoola Tipera” and was nominated as the best Lyricist among the top 5 in the category of ‘Best Pop Lyricist in 2019’ for the song “Timi samma aaudai chhu ma”. He has completed his master’s degree in sociology and is currently preparing for his Master of Philosophy. He is currently the President of Family Federation for World Peace & Unification (FFWPU-Nepal) as well as the President of Youth Federation for World Peace (YFWP-Nepal), and the National Director of Universal Peace Federation (UPF-Nepal).
