I carried a firm determination to break that glass ceiling that held most women’s skills confined and limited.

With the intention help them explore their skills and make them better at it, I established WESDO in Nepal to help navigate women with their talent. However, I didn’t want to stop there, I soon realised for women to be more vocal about their rights and chances, we need to bring more confidence in their voices. There is no age to learn new things, however, it has been well known that things learned from young age stays with us throughout our life and shapes the life.

Hence, with an intention to bring confidence on young ladies and encourage to follow their talent, I with my business partner established Nepalese Fashion Home and initiated an talent contest titled as “Kid Queen Nepal Pokhara 2003”. We initiated our work from Pokhara. Our intention was to showcase the talent of young girls aged between 9&13, while also giving them training to develop their personality and boost their confidence.

After getting the positive response, we brought this event to Dharan, Biratnagar and also in Kathmandu that very year 2003. We continued this event annually, though later event had to be limited to Kathmandu only due to travel limitations brought by future projects. We also initiated Master Star for the boys of similar age group with similar intention to bring out their talents. We then also proceeded to focus on preserving culture and language of Newar community, the one I myself belong to.

I desired to see Newar ladies to be more confident with their skills and talent while also participate in taking pride of their culture and language. Thus, Miss Newa, one of our flagship event came to light and with help and support of our amazing Newar community members, our goals were more closer than earlier anticipated. As the platform grew, I took initiative to help the society in need by establishing NFH Social Welfare Wing.

Through this organisation, we helped to raise fund to help people in need but mostly students of rural parts of Nepal, who did not have enough access to get the stationery material for their study. I with my Miss Newa and other events’ winner and participants, reached different part of country with goods to help them get material they required so such things would not stop them from learning and growing.

My belief in helping community is rather strong, therefore, even when my business partner chose to separate and start another business, I chose to continue with this line of work. Rebranded my company as NFH Events and worked on more projects. It was tough decision but with the great team I had by my side helped me continue on this path and organise such events that would continue to foster the confidence of young children of our country.
