Narayan Paudel, Managing Director, Mahabir Palace

Mr. Narayan Poudel
Managing Director, Mahabir Palace Hotel
Hospitality Entrepreneur Award 2022 UAE

A successful hospitality rollercoaster
From an individual to professional hotelier Narayan Poudel has come across a long journey and within twelve years of time the man is now owns a four-star Hotel Mahabir Palace at the heart of capital city Kathmandu. The journey that started with hard work, dedication and passion has transformed the man from bellboy, room service attendant to supervisor, Indian Chef to event manager, food and beverage manager to general manager. The roller coaster of his journey was not easy but was always reward earning and thus he transformed bread purchaser to money maker. With the diversified but extensive experience in the hospitality service industry the man has worked for Taj Ahmedabad, Paras hotel, and McDonald’s. QTC Welcome hotel, Abu Dhabi national exhibition center, Dreamland gold resort, and Hotel Palm International.

His hotel offers different facilities like room, gym, spa, food, beauty, event facility accommodating up to 200 persons and his plans is to have a Big Ball Room where he could simultaneously serve 1500 to 2000 people along with a swimming pool facility. Carpet and other textiles made from recycled plastic bottles, and even roof-top greenhouses that supply ingredients for the dishes being prepared that day demonstrate full circularity of products, products that come from and return to nature or are re-purposed from other uses. The story behind these products and how they are highlighted gives his hotel a sense of luxury. The hotel practices sustainability using the three R’s – reduce, reuse, and recycle – is an important way to create an eco-friendly environment.
With big plans coming on the way, the man is committed to establish five big chains all over Nepal, one with the biggest casino in Asia. He dreams to create Mahabir Palace as a synonym of hospitality, both at national and international level.
